M&CA completes renovation of six patient rooms at Advocate Christ Medical Center

OAK LAWN, IL—Last month Advocate Christ Medical Center completed a renovation of six patient rooms and clinical support space in the northeast quadrant of the fifth floor. The project created five private and one semiprivate detox patient rooms from space that was being used for offices, allowing the hospital more flexibility with the detox patients removed from general Med/Surg units. As part of an ongoing modernization of the original patient tower, the newly renovated patient rooms help to improve patient care and modernize the overall patient experience. M&CA worked closely with the team, including the Owner, Consultants and Contractors to meet a very demanding schedule and create a space that better serves the caregivers needs.

Advocate Christ Medical Center (ACMC), a 749-bed, premier teaching institution, serves as a major referral hospital in the Midwest for a number of specialties including cardiovascular services; heart, lung and kidney transplant; neurosciences, orthopedics and women’s health. The institution was re-designated, for the third consecutive time, as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In 2014, U.S. News & World Report ranked ACMC as being among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for cardiology/heart surgery, gynecology, geriatric medicine and neurology/neurosurgery. The publication also rated the medical center as being among the top three hospitals overall in Illinois. It’s Cancer Institute has achieved three-year accreditation with commendation from the Commission on Cancer, a program of the American College of Surgeons and is rated the highest possible three stars in heart surgery.
