Advocate Sherman Hospital Completes MRI Renovation to Enhance Patient Care

ELGIN, IL – Advocate Sherman Hospital has completed the renovation of a 1.5T MRI scan room and its support spaces, enhancing functionality and patient care within the imaging suite. Originally constructed as a shelled space, the MRI room was designed to accommodate an MRI machine but remained unoccupied until this buildout.

As part of the project, the MRI control room received all-new casework and finishes, improving workflow efficiency and staff comfort. A new connecting passage between the two control rooms was created to optimize patient monitoring, allowing for better coordination between imaging staff.

To support the newly installed MRI machine, a new chiller was added to the exterior of the building to meet the increased cooling demands. The chiller is enclosed within a fenced area featuring landscaping elements, providing both an aesthetic screen and a protective barrier for the quench ducts, ensuring safe ventilation in the event of a magnet purge.
